Have you thought about having a Halloween wedding?

If it was up to us, it would be Halloween season all year ‘round! We love going to events like Mid Summer Scream to keep us in the Halloween spirit until the season starts. Hayrides, corn mazes, spooky mazes, pumpkin patches, apple picking, you name it - we’re excited about it. Halloween is our favorite holiday, and we’re hoping it might be yours too since you’re looking at a Halloween wedding blog. You may be wondering how to incorporate Halloween into your wedding. You may be thinking about it, and love it, and you also may be worried about pulling the trigger on it? We’re here to give you that permission.

For this Halloween Wedding, the Bride and Groom choose to have Frankenstein donuts instead of a wedding cake.

Let’s presume we’re planning the Halloween wedding. Do we want kitschy Halloween party? Maybe more subtle Friday the 13th accents? Pagan ceremony? Wiccan ceremony? Tarot? We’ve seen many different ways to go about having a Halloween wedding. Did you hear about the Halloween wedding where they told their friends and family it was a costume party, and it was a surprise wedding instead? We would love to be a part of something like that.

Bride and Groom Halloween Wedding Table Settings

When having a Halloween wedding, you don’t need to only use black and bright orange. You can incorporate purple, dark blood red, dark orange, black and white stripes (think: Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, 🫢).

One element that we think is a must: candy. We’ve had couples bring out the vintage candy dispensers with all of the couples favorite candies. We’ve had a Halloween wedding where the couple set up a large table spread of traditional trick or treat candies with decorations and favor bags. I’ve seen candy placed out as favors, and custom designed cookies. Candy is a must when you’re having a Halloween wedding.

Now that we’ve decided on candy, we can move into the attire. When Tasha and Aaron got married, they asked their guests to dress Halloween-bound (you know, like when people Disney bound to go to Disney?) and as their planner, I wore a black dress with a large spiderweb and spiderweb tights. Their bridesmaids were dressed in bright orange and purple, and the bride wore white. Tasha wore a custom gown designed with the bride of Frankenstein in mind, and Aaron wore a custom suit inspired by Frankenstein’s Monster. We love a black wedding dress, but just because you’re having a Halloween themed wedding doesn’t mean you need to wear a black wedding dress, or have any black in the wedding party at all.

Your wedding ceremony is another area where we can bring in the Halloween theme to your wedding. At Ryann Kristena Events, we recently officiated a wedding where we brought in a touch of the spooky and “till death do us part” vibes into the ceremony. You can hire us to be your officiant, or you can work with your officiant to create. custom Halloween wedding ceremony that reflects you as a couple.

We can’t forget the most fun part about having a Halloween wedding: the decor! We love designing for our couples that want a Halloween themed wedding. From a couple who wanted their wedding to resemble a "kitschy halloween party our parents threw us in the 80’s” to the couple who wants a traditional wedding with elements of horror, to a wedding on Halloween where we have pumpkins everywhere and the kids get to trick or treat and the vendors are in costume, to the wedding we’re designing on a Friday the 13th where they want elements of horror without doing too much. We absolutely love Halloween, and Halloween weddings, no matter the season!
